Civil servants (Beamte) receive Elterngeld just like employees in the private sector. Your special employment status doesn't exclude you from parental benefits.

For Beamte, the income calculation is slightly different:

• •The Elterngeldstelle calculates your net using the same formulas as for employees

As a Beamter, you have specific parental leave regulations (Elternzeit für Beamte) separate from regular Elternzeit law.
